Privacy Policy

This Policy explains how Readervcard processes personal data on the website and in the app, including information extracted from business cards. Card data recognition is performed locally on the device, without sending it to third-party APIs. This Policy was structured to reflect principles under the LGPD, GDPR, and privacy laws applicable in the United States, including the CCPA/CPRA when applicable.

1. Who we are

For purposes of this Policy, “Readervcard,” “we,” “us,” or “our” refers to the Readervcard app and promotional website. When we act as a controller, we determine the purposes and means of processing the personal data described here.

Privacy contact channel: contact form.

2. Data we collect

  • Purchase or subscription data: when payment is involved, the transaction may be processed by app stores or payment providers according to their own policies.
  • User ID: screen name, handle, account ID, assigned user ID, customer number, probabilistic identifier, or another user- or account-level identifier that can be used to recognize a specific user or account, when applicable.
  • Device ID: the device advertising identifier or another device-level identifier, when applicable.
  • Data for advertising, metrics, and operations: basic navigation information, essential cookies, and technical identifiers needed for functionality, analytics, security, or advertising.

3. How we use data

  • Recognize business card information locally on the device.
  • Allow users to review, correct, organize, and save contacts in the device address book.
  • Provide support, respond to requests, and send service-related communications.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, fix issues, and improve the experience.
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, tax, or rights-defense obligations.

4. Legal bases

When the LGPD or GDPR applies, we may process data based on contract performance, consent, legitimate interests, compliance with legal obligations, regular exercise of rights, and protection of user and service security. When we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time, without affecting processing that was validly performed before withdrawal.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell personal data. We may share data only when necessary to operate the service, for example with hosting providers, technical analytics, support providers, payment processors, app stores, security tools, advertising providers, or public authorities when required by law. Business card data recognition is performed on the device. On iOS, recognition uses Vision and VisionKit, APIs provided by Apple. On Android, it uses Google ML Kit Text Recognition, provided by Google. In both cases, there is no sending of card data to external OCR APIs.

We require service providers to process data according to instructions compatible with this Policy and to adopt reasonable protection measures.

6. International transfers

Data extracted from business cards remains stored on the user's device. Data related to the website, support, customer service, purchases, technical metrics, or operational providers may be processed outside your country of residence. In those cases, we will adopt safeguards compatible with applicable law, such as contracts, technical measures, and security assessments when required.

7. Retention and deletion

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, to comply with legal obligations, or to preserve rights. Business card and contact data remain under the user's control on the device and may be deleted when you remove the app content, delete contacts from the address book, or uninstall the app, according to your operating system features.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No system is completely free from risk, so we recommend keeping your device updated and protected.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may request confirmation of processing, access, correction, deletion, anonymization, blocking, portability, information about sharing, withdrawal of consent, objection to processing, and review of automated decisions when applicable.

Residents of the European Union, European Economic Area, and United Kingdom may have additional rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR, including restriction of processing and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, opt out of sale or sharing of personal data, limit the use of sensitive data, and be free from discrimination for exercising their rights.

To exercise rights, submit a request through the contact form. We may request reasonable information to verify your identity before responding to the request.

10. Children and teenagers

Readervcard is not directed to children under 13 in the United States, nor to minors without valid authorization when local law requires parental or guardian consent. If we identify improper collection of a child's data, we will take steps to delete that information.

11. Cookies and similar technologies

The website may use essential cookies for functionality and security. If metrics, advertising, or non-essential tools are enabled, we will inform their purpose and, when required, request consent or provide an opt-out mechanism.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the app, the law, or our practices. The version published on this page will indicate the date of the latest update.
